The sessions will be lead by four wonderful facilitators.
Malina Dawn is a queer métis and nehiyaw iskwew (Cree Métis woman) who’s family is from the Red River Cree area. She weaves together, the worlds of indigenous wisdom and yogic knowledge. She is a Yoga teacher, breath work therapist, dancer, writer, drum carrier and song catcher and loves to share ceremony through indigenous traditional and futurism teachings. She is a strong voice for decolonizing wellness by teaching how to use indigenous ways of life appropriately and as medicine for healing physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Natalie Wright has been teaching yoga for over 14 years and is certified in a variety of forms including vinyasa, yin, and prenatal. She is passionate about yoga and all that it contains both as a physical practice and a way of life. She met Frazer Smith, an elder from Tsartlip First Nations, 4 years ago and has been listening and learning from him ever since. She is very excited to explore the fusion of yoga and indigenous knowledge.
Krista Stogryn, tla-chit-ah-nilth-aqsa, ii-ii-ni-sha-aqsa, is a family physician, mindfulness teacher and ceremony holder. Krista began sitting meditation retreats in medical school and was inspired by an early teacher to bring mindfulness skills into her work with patients. She has spent her career living and learning in First Nations communities, and her worldview and approach to healing has been further transformed by land based practices founded in 'All My Relations'. Her spiritual path and professional practice continue to be guided by these two influences.
Julie Gallant is an RMT, yoga and yoga nidra teacher. Through the years, she has been learning from and supporting Frazer Smith, an elder from Tsartlip, in workshops, ceremonies and sweat lodge. She continues to learn to weave traditional healing practices into her work. Beyond the activities she does with Frazer, Julie teaches ball rolling, somatic movement and Yoga Nidra classes.
